Afternoons
TUESDAYS 12:30 - 2:00 pm
We are studying the book by Eckhart Tolle The Power of Now, a book which addresses our own personal growth leaving the analytical mind and its false created self behind to help us connect with the essence of our being, the True Self, or Christ Self. The book is required reading and can be ordered through Amazon or purchased at Wal-mart. The class is facilitated by Carol Bigio. Contact her through the Parish Office or via e-mail at cbigio@bellsouth.net for further information.
“All you really need to do is accept this moment fully…Give up defining yourself - to yourself or to others. You won't die. You will come to life. And don't be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it's their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don't be there primarily as a function or a role, but as a field of consciousness. Presence." - Eckhart Tolle
SATURDAYS - 8:30 am till 10:30 am
Join a group of community volunteers to help spruce up the gardens. Volunteers are needed to trim hedges, rake beds, mulch hedges & flower beds, plant shrubs and dig up the dreaded potato vines which are choking some of our palms and deciduous trees.
Pre-registration is required. The morning begins at 8:30 am and work and runs to about 10:30 am.
These volunteer work days are sponsored by the Monastery Foundation and our ‘Gardening Angels’. Call the office for more information or to register at (305) 945-1461, ext 102.
Centering
Prayer
Group
TUESDAYS 10:30-11:30 am
Centering Prayer that has been used for centuries in the Christian tradition and most often has been associated with the ancient teaching of “The Cloud of Unknowing” a short booklet anonymously written in the 14th century. It is now commonly practiced in many Episcopal, Roman Catholic and other Christian Churches. This type of contemplative prayer was reported to be one of the principle practices of the monastery of St. Bernard de Clairvaux in Spain in the 12th century along with Lectio Divino.
This group begins by learning some basic teachings, guided meditations and some simple exercises that will set our mood for Meditative Prayer. This class meets from 10:30 to 11:30 am. We usually meet in the Gift Shop building. If you are interested in participating, please contact Mayten Battaille at St. Bernard’s office, telephone 305-945-1461, giving your name, phone number and email.
