Welcome and thank you for visiting The Ancient Spanish Monastery online. We hope that our website highlights the wide variety of activities, worship, classes, tours, concerts, and services available. Please feel free to read more about us on this site or come  for a visit. We would love to greet you and share with you our love for this unique and amazing place and the community that calls it home.

We think of our sacred space as a gift—something bequeathed to us by our forebears but a gift we know we are called to share with others. Our members and visitors come from the whole Miami-Dade metropolitan area, from other parts of the country, and as tourists and pilgrims from around the world. We practice what St. Benedict taught his monks: “All who present themselves

are to be welcomed.”

The Gardens and Chapel of the Ancient Spanish Monastery offer a traditional setting for your most sacred celebration.

On Sunday Mornings,  Mass is celebrated in the Main Chapel at 8:00 am and 10:15 am in English. At 12:15 pm, Mass is celebrated in Spanish.

Join Us for Worship on Wednesdays at 10 am 

The Monastery hosts a full schedule of services in both English and Spanish.  On Wednesdays, Mass is celebrated in 'Span-glish' at ten o'clock. All are welcome to join us.

Study Group on Tuesday afternoons

Museum & Gift Shop

Tours are available most days from 10 am until 4:30 pm. Admission is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for students, seniors, and military. Please call ahead as we sometimes close for filming and special events.

Filming & Photo Shoots

The Monastery has been used in many Hollywood films. The current movie Rock of Ages features our Chapel as the location for Catherine Zeta-Jones' big dance number "Hit Me With Your Best Shot." We have also been the location for many network television shows,  commercials, tele-novelas, and hit music videos. Inquire about our rates for filming,  engagement photos, modeling portfolios, catalogue shoots and portraits for quinceñeras.

Monastery Foundation 

The mission of the Foundation is to help maintain this architectural treasure for future generations. Learn more about our archives, the Hearst Collection, our Gala fundraiser and our 'Gardening Angels' who volunteer their time and talent in the gardens. Please show your support and donate to the Monastery's Foundation for the restoration and preservation of the Cloisters and Gardens.

 

 

A Study Group meets on Tuesdays from 12:30 pm to 2 pm. We are studying the book by Eckhart Tolle The Power of Now, a book which addresses our own personal growth leaving the analytical mind and its false created self behind to help us connect with the essence of our being, the True Self, or Christ Self.

The book can be ordered through Amazon.com or purchased at Wal-mart.
